Why choose us for pediatric orthopedic oncology care
40
Years of combined experience
ONE
Place for entire treatment course
Our Orthopedic Tumor Program is the only program in the Rocky Mountain region with a team of oncology specialists who focus on the treatment of soft tissue and bone tumors in children. We’re known for our successful preservation of the best possible functional outcomes for our patients. In other words, we do everything we can to ensure our patients keep their mental and physical abilities.
For cancerous tumors, our surgical team works closely with pediatric oncologists at our Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, as well as experts at the nearby University of Colorado Hospital and University of Colorado Cancer Center. This collaborative effort allows us to deliver the best possible care and allows patients to receive a seamless treatment experience all in one place.
Our care team includes pediatric orthopedic surgeons, a physician assistant, a nurse practitioner, a nurse coordinator and physical therapists who specialize in rehabilitation exercises for children with bone tumors who receive reconstructive surgery. We often work with other specialists when needed, including radiation and pediatric oncologists, pediatric surgeons, social workers and child life experts.
Cancer research
Children’s Hospital Colorado is also a member of the Children’s Oncology Group, a national research program for childhood cancers. We’re active participants in local and national research projects and are currently involved in studies focused on function and quality of life challenges for children with bone and soft tissue cancers.
