About the Spots and Dots Clinic

Also known as the "Young Women's Bleeding Clinic," this clinic addresses the congenital and acquired bleeding disorders that often go unrecognized by young women and their clinicians.

Adverse outcomes caused by common bleeding disorders can be prevented with the right medical treatment and education. This is why Children’s Hospital Colorado started The Spots and Dots Clinic, a collaboration between the Division of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and the Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center (HTC). Together, our main goal is to improve the quality of life and safety of young females affected by bleeding disorders.

Why choose us for bleeding disorder care

Our multidisciplinary team of providers includes hematologists from our nationally and internationally recognized Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center (HTC) as well as gynecology providers specially trained in pediatric and adolescent reproductive health.

Our Spots and Dots Clinic is designed to provide comprehensive, one-stop care to diagnose and treat gynecological and hematologic issues in young women with heavy menstrual bleeding with or without an underlying blood disorder. Our clinic offers the following services:

  • Gynecologic reproductive health consultation
  • Hematologic consultation to evaluate for congenital or acquired bleeding disorders
  • Contraception consultation and in-office IUD and implant placements
  • Easy access to psychology consultation
  • Access to the resources of the HTC, including nursing, social work, physical therapy and 340B pharmacy (provides federal discounts on medications)

We also conduct clinical research aimed at improving our education and treatment of bleeding disorders in young women.
