Children’s Colorado Opens New Colorado Springs Therapy Care Location

Children's Hospital Colorado (Children's Colorado) announced today the opening of its newest location in Colorado Springs. Located at 2375 Telstar Drive, Children's Colorado Therapy Care on Telstar, Colorado Springs, will house a pediatric-based, partial hospitalization behavioral health program. It will also be the location for all pediatric outpatient therapy care services in Southern Colorado.

Location to host new services for Southern Colorado

"Our newest location will hold critical, new services for the Southern Colorado community,” said Greg Raymond, Children's Colorado Southern Region president. "Our efforts at Telstar were put on hold in 2021 due to the impacts of the pandemic. Fortunately, it was the first project our organization was able to resume due in part to significant local donations. This new location is representative of not just the expansion of services in Southern Colorado, but how the community can come together to create real solutions for children here."

Originally announced in 2020, the opening of the 26,000-square-foot facility was paused during the COVID-19 pandemic, which worsened the youth mental health crisis and made expanded mental health services even more urgent. However, construction resumed last year, and the facility is now open and serving patients across all its specialties.

More than just the “essentials” for mental and behavioral health

The new location provides essential elements that are a part of the system’s wrap-around services for children struggling with mental and behavioral health needs. The facility has 10 behavioral health consultation rooms, including seven for outpatient care, three for developmental pediatrics and an additional two classrooms for the daytime partial hospitalization program. Patients who are in the daytime partial hospitalization program attend from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., as they would in a traditional “school” program but are able to return home to their families in the evening.

Offering varied physical therapy services

Therapy services at this location include physical, occupational and rehabilitation; sports medicine; audiology, and speech and learning therapy. The location will house two new audiology booths, which have doubled capacity for patients needing hearing screenings in Colorado Springs, plus 12 speech therapy rooms, augmentative and alternative communication treatment rooms, feeding therapy rooms, group therapy rooms and baby therapy rooms. The building also features developmental, sensory and orthopedic gym facilities indoors, and outdoors it contains a new sports field, a developmental playground and a behavioral health playground. Therapy services previously located at Briargate and Printers Park outpatient locations will relocate to Telstar Drive.
