Children’s Hospital Colorado Southern Region President Greg Raymond was selected by SIXTY35 Media, previously Colorado Springs Business Journal, as one of this year’s community leaders who will present at one of its innovative monthly meetups in 2023. Each year, the publication selects 12 of “the Pikes Peak region’s greatest minds, fastest-moving thinkers and most inspirational shakers” for its “COS CEO” series to participate in its monthly “Leadership Lessons.” These lessons give the business community an opportunity to gather and learn from a leader about their journey, their current — as well as past — challenges, and even more about the things that helped develop them into the leader they are today.
A passion for care
Raymond’s experience as a father of four and his decade of dedication to bringing Colorado Springs its first dedicated pediatric hospital has paved the way for him to achieve this top honor. It’s his personal passion for caring for the families at the hospital that will make his lesson so compelling.
Bringing specialized pediatric care to Colorado Springs
Children’s Colorado is a top-10 nationally ranked pediatric hospital, caring for families throughout Colorado and surrounding states. Its comprehensive team of highly trained, experienced specialists sees and treats more children than any other hospital in the region, giving kids the expert care they need to feel better.
Expanding access
Raymond knows from his two decades with the hospital system that from their growing bodies to their developing minds, kids are incredibly different from adults. That’s why they need incredibly different care — the kind found at Children’s Colorado. And that’s why as Southern Region president, Raymond has worked to expand access to that level of care in Southern Colorado.
Raymond came to Colorado Springs in 2013 to help develop the Children’s Colorado system’s pediatric hospital on Briargate Parkway, a life-changing facility that opened its doors in 2019. Prior to the hospital’s opening, children in Southern Colorado had to travel long distances to receive specialized pediatric care, and now they can get the help they need closer to home.
Nurturing children's well-being
More recently, Raymond helped bring Colorado Springs Therapy Care at Telstar Drive, a dedicated pediatric facility that provides a robust suite of therapy services. The new building, which opened in August 2022, houses mental and behavioral health services including a partial hospitalization program, as well as physical therapy, occupational therapy, sports medicine and more.
Raymond is passionate about providing care and communication that's tailored to kids, supporting pediatric mental health, increasing access to youth sports and an active lifestyle, and preventing pediatric injuries through education and awareness.
Leading the Southern Region
In his current role at the hospital system, Raymond is responsible for the strategic planning, external relationships and overall operations for the Southern Region. Prior to leading the team in Colorado Springs, Raymond served as the top-ranked pediatric hospital system’s Southern Region chief operating officer (COO) since January 2019. He has been responsible for the oversight of the strategy and daily operations for the new 115-bed hospital and previously served as regional vice president of Children’s Colorado’s Southern Region. He spent almost 20 of his 23 years in healthcare at Children’s Colorado – nearly nine of which have been in Southern Colorado.
