Hospital-acquired infections
The Hospital-Acquired Infections report from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment evaluates the status of health facility acquired infections across Colorado. The report explains the Hospital-Acquired Infections Disclosure Act and has data about infection measurement and reporting for hospitals in the state, including Children's Colorado.
Online quality report
Published by the Joint Commission, the Online Quality Report is a directory of accredited organizations and performance reports. You'll see that Children's Colorado is accredited by the Joint Commission and has received the Gold Seal of Approval.

Outpatient visits
In addition to our location on Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Children's Colorado offers a wide range of outpatient specialty clinics and emergency care locations throughout the region. From sports medicine and audiology to neurology and cardiology — even after-hours, urgent and emergency care — Children's Colorado brings specialized pediatric care closer to home. In 2023, we had 858,871 outpatient visits across all our locations.
Inpatient admissions
Our healing goes well beyond medicine. We do whatever it takes to make kids physically and emotionally comfortable, so they can heal faster and get home sooner. In 2023, we had 19,507 inpatient admissions among 618 licensed inpatient beds across all our locations.

We have award-winning nurses

We received the American Hospital Association-McKesson Quest for Quality Award
We were named the winner of the 2015 American Hospital Association-McKesson Quest for Quality Award. Children’s Colorado is only the second children’s hospital to win the award in its 14-year history. The award recognizes hospitals for their commitment to making six quality aims a reality:

The Quest for Quality judges were impressed by our commitment to high-quality, safe patient care in every department, both clinical and non-clinical.
We won the Davies Award of Excellence
Our IT division was honored with the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Davies Award of Excellence, the world's most prestigious healthcare IT award. Each year, the Davies award is given to health organizations that use electronic health records and information technology to improve clinical outcomes and value of care. Children's Colorado was able to determine a new call to action for bronchiolitis treatment, which reduced unnecessary testing and treatment methods nearly by half.
We use technology to bring doctors together
Children's Colorado is one of the first free-standing children's hospitals in the nation to use a fully integrated electronic health record system. The system enables doctors and other caregivers to gain appropriate electronic access to patient records, whether they are at our hospital, their office or any another location.
We use evidence-based care
Children's Colorado uses evidence-based medicine to help our doctors and staff make decisions about safe, effective tests and treatments. This keeps us continually up-to-speed on what works by using science, research and technology. Evidence-based care, backed by scientific research, can also mean less time in the hospital — and less stress on you and your child.
We have board-certified doctors
Our board-certified doctors are experts in their specialty or sub-specialty of pediatric medicine. This means they have gone through intensive training and passed all tests required to achieve this highest level of certification. In addition to completing years of school and residencies, and passing medical exams required by the state of Colorado, our board-certified doctors must also stay up-to-date on the newest medical techniques, science and technology.
We have more than 3,000 pediatric experts
Pediatric experts are doctors who train in pediatrics after medical school and get additional training in a sub-specialty, such as infectious disease, surgery or neurology. This adds at least three years and often more than six years of post-graduate medical education specific to children. And it’s not just our doctors who have years of training.
Parents take comfort in the fact that many of our nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, technicians, social workers, child life specialists and counselors are also specifically trained in pediatrics. Most of our caregivers have years of formal training in children’s health in addition to their general medical education.
