Center for Children’s Surgery Programs and Clinics

We collaborate with every specialty in the hospital to advance new surgical techniques, teach tomorrow’s surgeons and give our patients a brighter today.

The Center for Children’s Surgery at Children’s Hospital Colorado uses state-of-the-art technology and advanced surgical techniques to care for our patients. We take care of babies before they are born, infants, kids, teens and even young adults every day. Our surgeons are experts in pediatric care and are known for their excellent outcomes.

Why do kids need a pediatric surgeon?

surgery_programs.jpg

Surgeons at Children’s Colorado trained for additional years to learn how to care for kids that are still growing. All of the equipment that we use is kid-sized and our surgical teams explain complicated conditions and treatments in a way that is easy to understand. In addition to pediatric-trained surgeons, our anesthesiologists are board-certified and trained in pediatrics as well. Children’s bodies and metabolisms work very differently than adults’ bodies and process medication very differently. It is vital that our anesthesiologists understand these differences so that each surgery runs as smoothly as possible.

What types of surgical programs are available at Children’s Colorado?

Our teams diagnose and treat every part of the body - from the top of a child’s head all the way to the tips of their toes and from the inside out.

Congenital cardiac (heart) surgery

Congenital cardiac surgery, also known as pediatric heart surgery, is a surgical subspecialty that treats children and adults with congenital heart defects (heart defects they were born with). We use the latest surgical options to give patients the best outcomes possible, which makes ours one of the best centers in the nation for pediatric heart surgery. Read about our surgical outcomes.
