HIV Resources for CHIP Patients and Families

The Children’s Hospital Immunodeficiency Program (CHIP) supports those living with or affected by HIV and their families. We work with a lot of different organizations to provide the most comprehensive and highest quality care. Here, you’ll find resources that we have found helpful for CHIP participants.

HIV and AIDS service organizations

The Colorado Health Network has been working since 1983 to help meet the evolving needs of people affected by HIV and other health conditions through prevention, care and advocacy. It is Colorado’s oldest and largest source of services and programs for people living with or impacted by HIV.

The Boulder County AIDS Project provides support, advocacy and education to those in our community who are infected with or affected by HIV. They also serve as an outreach and information center to prevent further spread of HIV and the resulting disease, AIDS.

The Empowerment Program is a Denver-based nonprofit organization that provides education, employment assistance, health, housing referrals and support services to women dealing with incarceration, poverty, homelessness, HIV or AIDS infection or involvement in the criminal justice system.

The La Gente Program at Servicios de La Raza serves a wide cross-section of the Latino population living with HIV or AIDS, including straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) men, women and youth. La Gente is a bilingual HIV and AIDS services program providing person-centered services that assist people with HIV or AIDS and their affected family members. The program helps people access healthcare, emotional support and other resources.

HIV Care Link is a faith-based organization supporting people living with HIV through supportive and meaningful human connection and action. HIV Care Link supports marginalized and underserved people living with HIV to help improve health outcomes and is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of people living with HIV.

Financial assistance for people with HIV

Health First Colorado is Colorado’s Medicaid program. The program offers financial assistance for people with diseases like HIV through various programs.

Connect for Health Colorado is Colorado’s healthcare exchange program that helps Coloradans access new financial assistance based on income and other factors to reduce the cost of health insurance.

The AIDS Drugs Assistance Program provides HIV-related service and approved medications to more than half a million people in need annually working in cooperation with state, city and local organizations to:

• Help people living with HIV or AIDS without enough healthcare coverage or financial resources
• Provide grants to emerging communities in all 50 states and U.S. territories
• Improve the quality and availability of HIV and AIDS healthcare and support services

The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program  helps people with low income and HIV receive medical care, medications and essential support services.
